Why Are You Silent?

Why are you sitting,

 

 So alone and silent,

 

Staring at the past

 

Like it holds all the answers?

 

 

 

Why are you silent,

 

Instead of yelling,

 

Or screaming,

 

Or shouting?

 

 

 

The only way to

 

Change things is to

 

Stand up and

 

Make your voice heard.

 

 

 

Why aren’t you running

 

At the call to arms?

 

Instead you close your eyes

 

And hope it goes away.

 

 

 

Get up and fight!

 

Make people believe

 

You are right!

 

Make your voice heard.

 

 

 

If you ignore the call of duty,

 

And will it to pass by,

 

People figure you a coward,

 

And choose to leave you behind.

 

 

 

But if you truly believe in what you say,

 

And hope that people will see

 

That this is right, this is just,

 

And why you believe.

 

 

 

Most people don’t get it,

 

They see it as wrong,

 

I myself included,

 

But everyone’s left in a fog.

 

 

 

If you want people to see,

 

This is natural, it’s free,

 

Then why do you still sit,

 

Why are you still silent?
